Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman was injured in a serious car accident in Mississippi Sunday night.

The “Dark Knight” star sufferred a car crash at about 11:30 p.m. in Batesville, Miss.

Freeman was driving a 1997 Nissan Maxima that went off the edge of Mississippi Highway 32 and flipped several times before coming to a rest.

The 71-year-old actor and his passenger, Demaris Meyer, were extracted from the car using the Jaws of Life.

Freeman, who talked to state troopers after the wreck, had to be airlifted to the Regional Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn., hospital, which is located more than 100 miles from the scene of the crash.

It appears that Freeman broke his shoulder and arm but is joking with nurses at the hospital according to the Daily News.

One of my favorite directors - Peter Berg (”Friday Night Lights” and “Hancock“) is set to direct “Hercules” for Universal.

The full title of the film will be “Hercules: The Thracian Wars,” a co-production of Spyglass Entertainment who will also co-finance with Universal.

Ryan Condal will write the script, based on a five-issue comicbook series by Steve Moore that debuted in May through Radical Publishing.

And then all this earthquake and all this stuff happened, and I thought, is that karma – when you’re not nice that the bad things happen to you?”

Later, the actress insinuated that the deadly earthquake that killed as many as 80,000 people in China was bad karma because of China’s policies in Tibet.

Several Chinese cinemas have now pledged to not screen her movies and the Internet (behind the Great Chinese Firewall) has exploded with angry comments against Stone.

China says more than 67,000 people have been confirmed dead in the May 12 earthquake that devastated a mountainous corner of southwestern Sichuan province and more than 20,000 are still missing.

Some websites have even posted slideshows of Stone, usually topless and sometimes in affectionate poses with a male friend, accompanied by captions , one read: “Shut up, shameless woman”.
