Dan Rather sues CBS for $70 million

New York State Supreme Court Judge Ira Gammerman ruled on Monday that former CBS TV anchor Dan Rather can proceed with a $70 million lawsuit against CBS, including a breach of contract claim, but threw out Rather’s claim against parent company Viacom.
Rather filed suit against CBS in September 2007, claiming he had been made a scapegoat to “pacify the White House.”
CBS later acknowledged that documents used in the report, which aired on Sept.8, 2004, could not be authenticated. CBS aired the report two months before the presidential election pitting George W. Bush against Democratic challenger John Kerry.
Rather kept reporting for the CBS weekly news program “60 Minutes,” but was dumped by CBS in June 2006 after 44 years with the network. He had spent 24 years as anchor of its flagship nightly news program.

What is the current status of the law suit? Or, where can I find out?
Thank you, great site!

Currently the lawsuit is in the midst of litigation. CBS is contending that “Rather’s theory is a fantasy and … is nothing more than an intrusive and expensive fishing expedition,” – developments will be posted on this site. Thanks.
