The Dark Knight sets new box-office records…

The latest installment in the revitalized ‘Batman’ franchise from Warner Bros. has broken another box office record by taking only 18 days in order to surpass the $400 million dollar box office mark for North America.
This is less than half the time it took the previous record holder film “Shrek 2 ” to pass the milestone (43 days in 2004.)
“The Dark Knight” has already smashed the record for best opening night and weekend in North America and was the fastest ever to pass the $300 million dollar mark as well.
British director Christopher Nolan’s film has spent 5 weeks on top of the box office charts in North America and in much of the international market place as well. ($98 million in the United Kingdom and Ireland since July 25th.)
“The Dark Knight” should be the 2nd film to cross the $500 million mark, but it is unlikley that the film will surpass the number 1 film of all time “Titanic” which holds the record of $601 million in total box office in North America.
