‘The Dark Knight’ cast campaigns for Heath Ledger Oscar for role as ‘Joker’

There’s some talk coming out of the cast of the upcoming “The Dark Knight” that their deceased co-star Heath Ledger is deserved of an Oscar for his role as ‘The Joker’ in the movie.
Aaron Eckhart, who plays district attorney ‘Harvey Dent’ says “why not?” and Gary Oldman says that “Heath had this frequency none of us could hear. The Academy tends to overlook movies like this, but this acting is so good it’s going to be very hard for them to avoid it.”
Director Christopher Nolan said of Ledger’s performance:
“He called me during preproduction from time to time to tell me what he was working on. He told me he was researching the way ventriloquist dummies talk. It was a bit peculiar.”
‘Batman’ himself – Christian Bale said that Ledger “raised the bar” with his performance.
If Ledger were to win an Oscar for ‘Joker’ it would be the second posthumous acting win ever. The first went to Peter Finch for the movie “Network” in 1976.
