He used to be The Hulk
Back in the days before CGI. The days that I fondly remember as my childhood – there was a little television show on CBS called “The Incredible Hulk.”
It was about a man – ‘Bruce Banner’ (played by Bill Bixby) – who when mad became a different man – this time green and muscly.
And that green muscle man was played by body-builder Lou Ferrigno.
Ferrigno had no acting talent, but his career has continued to flourish since the show (he regularly books parts like “Security Guard #2″ and “Old Muscle Guy” on shows like “Days of Our Lives” and “90210″)
In the new movie that did well at last week’s box-office, the 56-year-old Ferrigno admits that he didn’t even do the growl for The Hulk. He also says that when he met Edward Norton it was in his trailer on the film’s set and that:
“He was reading all these books about The Hulk. He reminds me a lot of Bill. They have the same intensity and connection to the character. We did our scene in about eight or nine takes. It was beautiful, like one Hulk to another.”
Another interesting thing about Ferrigno’s Hulk-transofrmation on set back on the CBS show, he says that it took three hours to become the Hulk and that:
“I was forced to stay in a refrigerated motor home so I wouldn’t sweat. The hard contact lenses had to come out every 15 minutes. And the green wig was made of dyed yak hair.”
