Black Backs out of Man-Witch

Dreaming of something butter-related.
Citing the reason “his name’s not Judd Apatow,” comedic fat guy Jack Black dropped out of Todd Phillips’ Man-Witch, a laugh-riotous comedy currently in active development at Warner Bros. Move is ironic in that Black would have never backed away from an actual sandwich, the food item from which Phillips’ film takes its punny title.
Calls were immediately made to Dan Fogler, aka the discount Jack Black. I’m guessing.
Man, it sucks to be Todd Phillips. Before 40 Year Old Virgin HE was going to be the guy to corner the market on jewfro man-boy comedies. Then Apatow swooped in like a Borg and assimilated the entire genre with his viral-vector-like nanobots. And yeah, School for Scoundrels didn’t help – nor did Starsky and Hutch – but you gotta give Phillips credit, Old School was fucking funny and preceded all those Apatow cocks-a-flappin’ comedies by at least two years. Come on Hollywood, don’t tell me you don’t have room for TWO comedic voices illustrating how hard it is for 30-something dudes to move past their state of suspended adolescence, buckle down and be responsible for the sake of a woman’s love. Because that shit is funny every time. EVERY TIME. Especially if there’s some sort of sports angle in there, and if it’s set in the late 70’s or early 80’s. Oh man! Hilarity.
