Hard to imagine that as little as 3 years ago red-band trailers were considered a waste of P&A dollars. Now they’re integral to the marketing campaign of any comedy, and even marketeers promoting PG-13 fare (like last year’s Beowulf fer instance) are getting in on the action. Anyway, here’s the red-band spot for Ben Stiller’s Tropic Thunder, and I’ve gotta admit I’m actually looking forward to seeing this now (specifically due to the one bit with Steve Coogan’s… well, you’ll see).

My only real problem with Tropic Thunder is that I keep getting it confused with Pineapple Express. Couldn’t they have combined these two films into one big Stillapatow actiomedy — starring a genetically-fused mutant BlackRogen laugh-generating uber-fat guy — so we only had to see one of these movies this summer? I know you born-agains are aways up in arms about bad science stuff like stem cells and cloning and me slipping my girlfriend RU486, but couldn’t we make an exception this once and create a horrible, pus-covered, morbidly obese comedy monster? Because it could save me 12 bucks.
