Brewer’s on board for “Gang Leader for a Day”

The Book “Gang Leader for a Day”

Craig Brewer, the director of “Hustle & Flow” and “Black Snake Moan” has announced that he will adapt Sudhir Venkatesh’s book “Gang Leader for a Day” into an upcoming film.

The Columbia sociology professor wrote a book about his experience with the Black Kings crack dealing gang in Chicago. At a certain point in his research, Ventakesh was given the responsibility of running the gang and calling the shots.

Michael Caleo, a writer on HBO’s “The Sopranos” has been enlisted to adapt the book into a screenplay.
