Apatow Borg assimilates Sandler

Judd Apatow — writer, director, producer and owner/operator of the movie genre known as “comedy” – has lined up some cast for his post-Knocked Up directing effort. Along with Apatow regulars Seth Rogen and Leslie Mann (aka Missuz Apatow), the untitled comedy will star Manch-Vegas 603’s own Adam Sandler. Apatow and Sandler recently teamed up to write the upcoming You Don’t Mess with the Zohan (which looks like it’ll only be funny to Israelis or people who’ve had to work for Israelis). The plot’s “top secret” for the moment (who does Apatow think he is, J.J. Abrams?), but it’s going to be a co-production between Universal and Sony. So there’s that.
Starring in an Apatow comedy must feel like joining an incest cult. You know, awesome. But seriously, does it seem like there’s only one “voice” in comedy right now? Granted it’s a voice I generally find pretty funny (unlike Sandler’s little baby voice, which only makes me hate babies more than I already do), but fat guys with Jewfros making dick jokes is going to get tired sooner rather than later. Know what never gets tired? Monkeys.
