HBO puts “In Treatment” on YouTube
HBO has decided to put episodes of its new series “In Treatment” online free of charge.
The first four episodes of the series will appear on YouTube; the first three weeks of episodes, which air nightly, will appear on HBO.com.
HBO’s decision comes after its recently announced online, on-demand service for its subscribers.
HBO’s move is probably to help garner interest in the new series which airs new episodes Monday through Friday for nine weeks. Since the pay cabler is not used to having a show play so many new episodes in such a heavy dose, so the online move is also a marketing move on their part.
Although its unlikely that HBO will be putting free episodes of “The Sopranos” online soon, its an indication from the Time Warner unit that are believers in the new series with origins in Israel and also that the demand for online content from the premium content creator is a void that the network wishes to fill in some way.
