David Archuleta re-Imagine’s John Lennon on Idol
17-year-old wonder-child David Archuleta was the last to perform on last night’s “American Idol” but the Utah based singing teen was out of control awesome. Paula Abdul was reduced to tears after hearing Archuleta’s soulful rendition of John Lennon’s classic song “Imagine.”
Randy Jackson said:
“that’s one of the best vocals I’ve ever heard on the show. You’re singing with maturity way beyond your years… That was brilliant.”
After Paula Abdul said something ridiculous to the youngster that bordered on insane –
“I want to squish you, squeeze your head off and dangle you from my rear-view mirror,”
Abdul then told Archuleta:
“That was one of the most moving performances I’ve ever heard… “You’re destined for superstardom.”
And Simon Cowell admitted:
“[It was] very, very risky to do a John Lennon song, particularly that one, but it worked… Right now, you’re the one to beat.”

Wow! I never thought I would actually hear that song done better. Last night a major star was born. This is the next Daughtrey and will be the first time a 17 year old wins. What a natural voice and sincerity he has. I said from day one that this kid was gonna reach a total different level in his career and as the song said last night “Imagine” waht he will do as he gets better. Russ

I adore DA. His voice touches my heart. I especially like the first performance of “Imagine.” He seemed more relaxed, not trying to “please” everyone’s quirky “fix this and that, ie: Keep your eyes open, don’t lick your lips, improve your hand movements!” He was, is is perfect just the way he is. DON’T EVER CHANGE DAVID ARCHULETTA. You are unique and exactly what we need. Love you.
