Mel Gibson DUI probation period is over…

Mel Gibson legal news for you….
This news however is not concerning the money owed to Benedict Fitzgerald for writing the highly profitable film “The Passion of the Christ” (that lawsuit is ongoing) but rather concerning Mel Gibson’s DUI charges. Gibson, who was pulled over on Pacific Coast Highway on July 28, 2006 by a police officer near his Malibu home and while being detained ranted anti-semitic comments.
After a half-hearted apology from Gibson, he entered a no-contest plea to the drunk driving charge in August of 2006 and was sentenced to three years probation and ordered to pay $1,400 in fines as well as having to attend alcohol rehabilitation.
Superior Court Judge Lawrence Mira told the 52-year-old actor/director that he had completed the requirements of his no-contest plea and was not required to make further progress reports to the court.
Judge Mira said to Mel Gibson:
“You’re on your own now with the self-help groups, so this is the most difficult time for you… Good luck to you as you continue your rehabilitation.”
