The Incredible Hulk - teaser poster

Although I didn’t see the notoriously bad Ang Lee “Hulk” film I have to see that I am very intrigued about the upcoming “The Incredible Hulk” movie that Universal will be releasing June 13th.
While the 2003 Ang Lee “Hulk” might have had the edge with regard to cast (Eric Bana, Jennifer Connelly, Josh Lucas and Nick Nolte.)
The revamped “The Incredible Hulk” is an upgrade for the Marvel comic inspired film. N They’ve hired French action director Louis Leterrier (”Transporter“) so you can expect excellent paced action-sequences. And the script was co-written by Zak Penn (”X2” and “X-Men 3“) as well as by star Edward Norton.
Perhaps Norton’s writing skills helped him land the part of ’Bruce Banner’ from Eric Bana. My guess is that Universal just wanted a fresh start after the awful reception that the 2003 movie received.
Although that film had an excellent supporting cast, 2008’s “The Incredible Hulk” boasts Robert Downey Jr., Tim Roth, Liv Tyler and William Hurt in supporting roles. Not too shabby…
While the 2003 film also opened in June earning an amazing $62M (2nd best June opening ever) in its opening frame, the film didn’t hold at all and ended up with a pathetic final number of $132M ($137 million.) Internationally the film didn’t sail either - earning only $113M.
BOPsy’s crystal balls predict that 2008’s “The Incredible Hulk” will open more softly - $45M to $55M (faith needs to be restored in the tarnished brand…) but that the film will hold better and end up in the range of $200M domestic and do about the same or better foreign.
