‘The Boat That Rocked’ - preview

Richard Curtis - the creative genius behind chick-flicks “Love Actually” and “Notting Hill” has decided to change direction from the rom-com’s he’s mastered with his next project.
The Sun reports that Curtis is working on a film called “The Boat That Rocked” about the bearded hippie pioneers of pirate radio who broadcast their music in the 1960’s from an old ship off London’s Essex coast.
Rhys Ifans (”Notting Hill“) is cast in the leading role of the film that looks at the true story behind Radio Caroline.
Famed English DJ’s such as Tony Blackburn, Johnnie Walker and Tommy Vance all got their start on Radio Caroline and it was one of the first stations to play the Rolling Stones and the Beatles at a time when the BBC had a virtually monopoly over the airwaves. Radio Caroline’s success forced the BBC to provide a station dedicated to younger listeners.
