Chris Albrecht - from choker to head of IMG Global Media

Mug shot of former HBO head Chris Albrecht taken by Las Vegas police dept.
In May of last year we wrote a scathing editorial about then HBO CEO Chris Albrecht and the aftermath that followed his exit from the pay-network subsequent to a domestic violence incident in Las Vegas involving his girlfriend.
The incident between Albrecht and Sasha Emerson was so bad that HBO dismissed him and as a reaction to this all of Albrecht’s chums came out defending him, his alcoholic violent episode and then we slowly forgot about that incident.
Now, Albrecht is the president of IMG Global Media. This week he appointeed Rob Lee, the former head of Bayone Entertainment (Bravo’s “The Millionaire Matchmaker” and former manager of Britney Spears as well as an agent at William Morris.)
IMG is a sports and entertainment conglomerate representing such high profile athletes as Tiger Woods and others.
Since arriving at IMG Albrecht has already sold a project entitled “Secret Diary of a Call Girl” to Showtime here in the U.S.
Upon landing the gig over at IMG, Rob Lee was quoted as saying:
“This is a company that’s very successful in fashion and sports, and that’s not just in representation, but production work as well….. Now we’re looking to match that by building out a fully integrated entertainment arm. We’re not starting from scratch, either.”
IMG’s various entities already hold broadcast rights to several sports events, and the company produces and distributes more than 11,000 hours of programming a year. Albrecht said hiring Lee repped a “key building block” in his efforts to turn IMG into an entertainment power.
