Breakthrough in Writers Strike negotiations
Today, a source close to the ongoing negotiations between the striking writers and Hollywood studios reports to the Associated Press that a breakthrough has been reached and this could lead to a tentative deal as early as next week.
On Friday, it is reported that the most contentious issue regarding content distributed via the Internet was apparently resolved. Now, all that remains is for both sides to agree on the legal wording and for a majority of guild members to approve the agreement.
The 3-month-old Writers Guild of America strike has brought the entertainment industry to a standstill, the informal talks which started up again on January 23rd after the DGA reached an agreement with the studios is an attempt to reach a new deal concerning content for film, TV and digital media.
