‘Hannah Montana’ concert movie sets ticket sale records

I can hardly tell Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus apart!
That pesky Miley Cyrus girl is at it again!
Disney reports that this weekend’s “Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert” concert film set records today, a day ahead of its debut despite the fact that the film will open in 684 digital 3D theaters.
The movie will be released Thursday at midnight (for all the 12 year olds who are allowed out that late at night…) It is a 3D film and will be displayed digitally.
Both Fandango.com and MovieTickets.com report that “Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert” accounted for more than three-quarters of their ticket sales as of Wednesday morning.
Fandango.com said “Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert” is the site’s best-selling concert film ever, selling out more than 1,000 showings and accounting for 91 percent of sales as of Wednesday morning.
MovieTickets.com reports “Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert” is ranked eighth on its all-time presale list and was tracking at nearly 90 percent of sales on Wednesday.
The ‘Hannah Montana’ character is phenomenally popular with “tween” girls who have turned out in droves to see Miley Cyrus and her father and co-star, Billy Ray Cyrus, perform in concert. (But who didn’t come out in droves to see “First Daughter” “Just My Luck” or “The Girl Next Door” for New Regency Productions a couple of years ago.)
