Checkmate! Bobby Fischer = dead

Mentally deranged chess legend Bobby Fischer died of kidney failure today at his home in Iceland. He was 64.
Though probably the greatest chess player to ever live and possessing an immeasurably high IQ, Fischer famously descended into a Syd Barrett-like madness, eventually winding up in the Philippines where he hosted a radio show that featured his wildly anti-Semitic rantings (despite that fact that Fischer himself was half-Jewish). After some legal troubles he was granted amnesty by Iceland, where Fischer was happy to live because he believed Iceland’s cold weather would “freeze up the black-tar blood of the evil Jews before they can shoot me with their mind-rays!”
Fischer’s life was turned into a movie, 1993’s SEARCHING FOR BOBBY FISCHER, which starred Laurence Fishburne as Colonel Walker and Joe Mantegna as “Danger” Rodriguez, the one-armed pirate.
