we can be certain that there will be no photo-ops like this one at this year’s Golden Globes press conference

As was reported last night, the Golden Globes have now been officially cancelled for telecast.

Instead, on January 13th the recipients of the “65th Annual Golden Globe Awards” will be announced from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA in a press conference.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced today that Golden Globe winners in 25 categories will be revealed during an hour-long press conference at The Beverly Hilton which shall be covered live by NBC News beginning at 6:00 pm PST on January 13.

Thus also announcing that due to the WGA strike and the SAG actors bocott, “The 65th Annual Golden Globe Awards” NBC telecast and champagne dinner in The Beverly Hilton’s International Ballroom is officially cancelled.

Jorge Camara, President of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association said:

“We are all very disappointed that our traditional awards ceremony will not take place this year and that millions of viewers worldwide will be deprived of seeing many of their favorite stars celebrating 2007’s outstanding achievements in motion pictures and television,” “We take some comfort, however, in knowing that this year’s Golden Globe Award recipients will be announced on the date originally scheduled.”

Rumer Willis
Rumer Willis was chosen as 2008’s Miss Golden Globe in November

Also, this means that Rumer Willis (Bruce Willis and Demi Moore’s eldest daughter) who was chosen as the 2008 “Miss Golden Globe” will not be used this year. Rumer is now an actress and she’s most recently wrapped “I Know What Boys Like” opposite Anna Faris and Collin Hanks for Sony and the independent “From Within” directed by Phedon Papamichael, starring Adam Goldberg and Thomas Dekker.

I don’t understand why they can’t just broadcast it at a later date? What is so magical about a January date? Not that I plan my night around it or anything but it seems the self-love can wait to another day. Same with the Oscars for that matter (and yes, I do like watching that one, LOL). Once again just put it all off until the writers figure it out.
