Jason Bourne wins Quills Award for Best Adaptation
The 3rd Annual Quill Awards is set to broadcast on NBC on October 22nd have announced that the Jason Bourne novels will recieve the “Variety Blockbuster Book to Film Award.” (that’s a mouthful…)
Tony Gilroy, the screen-writer who adapted the Bourne trilogy for Universal will accept the award.
Hosting the Quills are NBC’s Ann Curry and Al Roker (oh goody…)
Variety’s Editor and Cheif- Peter Bart had this to say:
“As a publication with a long history of heralding the best in filmed entertainment, we’re excited to continue our involvement with the Quills,” “The Jason Bourne trilogy has kept the country on the edge of its seats, much as did Robert Ludlum’s books, which are still going strong, with new editions by Eric Van Lustbader continuing the Bourne bestseller tradition. It’s a pleasure to celebrate the directors’ terrific work, based on these blockbuster books.”

What the fuck? They’re giving an award to the WRITER for ADAPTING a book…. and in the announcement they cite the DIRECTOR’S terrific work?

Holy shit, an Academy Award nominated writer just commented on my fucking website. Wait a second - I mean an Oscar, WGA Award, BAFTA Award, Edgar Allen Poe Award, OFCS Award, USC Scripter Award nominee just commented on my blog….
Today was a good day….
As for the strike. Do it. I dare you. There’s nothing I enjoy more than watching bearded fat guys (writers) grow out their beards, their hair, wear baseball caps and sit on their couches for months at a time watching Oprah and forgetting that the last time they went on strike the Reality TV format was not in existence and there was an actual chance at being profitable with films theatrically…..
