Snip, Snip – No More Wachowski Brothers
Its official! Or at least according to Rated M it is – Larry is now Lana Wachowski and the “Wachowski Brothers” are no longer brothers, but siblings Andy and “sister” Lana.
Lana Wachowski is the new moniker and sexual identity of the former Larry Wachowski and his/her gender identity has been speculated about from the second Matrix release. In this Rolling Stone article from January, 2006 we gain much about the origins of how Larry learned about and experimented with sexuality and perhaps a theory brews on how he found himself or herself through such experimentation with noted Los Angeles dominatrix known as Mistress Ilsa Strix.
The brothers Wachowski (as they have been known up until now) are best known for the lesbian bondage movie Bound starring Gina Gershon and the Matrix trilogy which grossed over $1 billion dollars for Warner Bros. and producer Joel Silver. The Matrix films were followed up with a producorial role on 2006’s brilliant V for Vendetta. But overall, the “brothers” have been relatively quiet for the past few years.
Lana will speak to the press about this, despite the fact that her sexual identity is personal in nature. However, the rumor according to Cinematical.com is that Lana will only speak about the sex change after Speed Racer hits theaters on May 9th of next year.
Andy Wachowski will potentially be doing all of the press for the “duo” because industry insiders speculate that Lana’s sexual identity could potentially harm the box office potential of the family-friendly film. A
Rated M claims that NBC’s Dateline will have the TV rights to Lana’s first public interview on the subject of her sex-change.
It was my first impression that Larry Wachowski was going to be named Laura when the sex change was complete, I was apparently wrong. Lana is a much hotter name.
