Remake Fever: Ronald D. Moore to Redo THE THING

According to today’s Variety, Hollywood’s favorite Skynyrd roadie, “Battlestar Galactica” overlord Ronald D. Moore, will be doing the remake three-peat feat with Universal horror property THE THING.
Pic coincides with Moore’s new 2-year, seven-figure pact with Universal Media Studios (now with Retsin!), which has the Night Ranger cover band looking scribe developing projects for Ben Silverman’s Party Peacock with the Fall 2008 slate in mind. Moore will continue to work on his fairly awesome space opera BSG.
On the feature side, Moore’s also writing a sequel to 20th Fox’s shitty CGI robot movie, I ROBOT.
I like Ronald D. Moore. He seems like a pretty cool guy, he’s a FOHE (friend of Harlan Ellison) and he rocks the shit out of Metallica’s “Sad But True” whenever his band FYRST STRYKE plays Palladino’s in Reseda (or at least someone who looks a lot like Moore does). But THE THING was pretty much perfected in 1982 when John Carpenter did it. At least with the project in Moore’s capable hands we can hope for the best, so long as some douche like Rob Zombie or Eli Roth doesn’t end up directing.
