Lionsgate to make yet another Punisher movie. Maybe this time someone will care.

Because churning out lame comic book movies and lame remake movies as wholly separate entities wasn’t quite damaging enough to our cultural landscape, mini-major/major-mini Lionsgate has decided to up the creativity-stifling ante by making a remake of a lame remake of a lame comic book movie that no one cared about, THE PUNISHER.
New take offers no solace for Frank Castle fans upset by the 2004 spin’s casting of Thomas Jane over franchise veteran/master thespian Dolph Lungren; this time the black t-shirt with the skull on it will be filled by the muscles of Ray Stevenson, best known as Titus Pullo of TV’s “Rome.”
Brilliant, Lionsgate. Just brilliant. Don’t let the dismal box office performance of the other two PUNISHER films dissuade you. And who cares if one of said films only came out three years ago. You go ahead and green-light that bitch. Piss away all the cred you earned for the unlikely success of the torture porn genre which you spawned (and thanfully, subsequentally beat into the ground). I guess in that acquisition of Artisan a few years back you picked up some of their bankrupcy-enabling production stupidity.
