FBI nab Cruise blackmailer
Tom Cruise can breathe a sigh of relief. No, he hasn’t come out of the closet! Rather, according to The Smoking Gun the FBI has arrested the “Sultan of Sleaze” David Hans Schmidt (age 47) for an “alleged” extortion plot targeting Tom Cruise.
Mr. Schmidt earned the reputation as the “Sultan of Sleaze” for his role in distributing celebrity sex tapes. (Not for sleaping with an Arab prince as I immediately thought when reading that)
Schmidt was arraigned yesterday on felony charges and bail was set at $100,000. Thom Mrozek, according to the GUN said that the criminal complaint remains sealed, “so I cannot comment about the case.”
Schmidt’s modus operandi is to contact “celebrities” like Paris Hilton and Colin Farrell in advance of selling videos and photos in advance of distributing them in order to see if the star in questions wants to purchase back their explicit material. Sounds like a fair business deal to me?
News stories appearing this week claim Schmidt as the “agent” for Kimberly Bell, the ex-girlfriend of baseball legend Barry Bonds. Kimberly Bell, appearing nude in November’s Playboy, will also be the subject of an article in the magazine describing her “personal and sexual relationship” with the athlete, Schmidt told The New York Times.
Other Schmidt celebrity “victims” include: Jamie Foxx, Gennifer Flowers, Tonya Harding, Fred Durst, Amber Frey, Jessica Lynch (US POW in Iraq) and Dustin Diamond (”Screech” on Saved by the Bell.)
