Jim Carrey says Yes to “Yes Man” movie
The last time I said “Yes” to every question asked of me, I ended up in the toilet at the Mother Lode on Santa Monica Blvd. in West Hollywood with a trannie named Julio or “Julia” as she preferred to be called that traumatic night.
But apparently that’s the plot line to the next high-concept comedy that Jim Carrey has just signed on to do for Warner Bros. This marks the first movie deal that Carrey has made since moving from long time representatives at UTA to the mega-powerful CAA. The film based on the memoir by British author Danny Wallace also entitled YES MAN will show Carrey’s character change his life by saying “Yes” to absolutely anything and everything that comes his way.
The film is the next one up on his schedule and will be followed up by the Robert Zemeckis performance-capture CGI film for Disney A CHRISTMAS CAROL. This rush to shoot films with big budgets is a move to get as much in the proverbial “can” as possible before a looming industry strike may cause stoppage.
Variety reports that Carrey is considering the Universal comedy SOBER BUDDIES or the dark indie comedy I LOVE YOU PHILIP MORRIS for Tim Burton (I worked on the concept for this film ages ago so I am rooting for this one and it has the most Oscar potential for Carrey so I think its ultimately a project he will do.)
Peyton Reed (director of the very awful DOWN WITH LOVE) will be doing the honors for YES MAN and production is set to begin in October with David Heyman (HARRY POTTER films) producing.
