Millennium to dust off Hercules

Nu Image/Millennium Films — who recently made BOPSY news after announcing the Pacino/DeNiro superpower team-up RIGHTEOUS KILL at this year’s Cannes – are breaking out the swords and sandals with a retooling of the Greek God immortalized by Steve Reeves in countless low-budget Italian films, Hercules.
A script has already been completed by Sean Hood, writer of Cube 2 (there was a Cube 2?), The Crow 4 (there was a Crow 2 and 3??) and Halloween 1-thousandy-million. Sean Hood’s other credits include writing his own IMDB bio.
Avi Lerner will produce with Millennium’s Boaz Davison (who developed the project along with exec VP Joe Gatta), Danny Dimbort and Trevor Short. Millennium’s Joan Mao will be in charge of skulking about with a double-barrelled handgun, reaping vengeance on the man who sent her to prison for a crime she didn’t commit. That’s an inside joke. Joan is cool, really. Still just a Minnesota at girl heart, Joan’s interests include breakdancing, rifles, and long walks on the beach. Her favorite movies are Caddyshack and What’s Eating Gilbert Grape. Joan is a Virgo.
For an in-depth look at the many brawny he-men who’ve depicted Hercules on screens both silver and small, check out this article at Brian’s Drive-In Theater (dot com).
As inclusive as it is, Kevin Sorbo’s suspiciously absent from the list. Why the Sorbo hate, Brian? Sorbo rules. Don’t make Sorbo hit you with his FIRE STICK!!

AHHH!! IT’S A SORBO FIRE STICK!!!
