Cannes 2007 — The Psychic Outlook

Day 1 of the Cannes Film Festival has come to a close and those fortunate enough to get tickets to see festival opener MY BLUEBERRY NIGHTS starring Norah Jones and Natalie Portman (from director Won Kar Wai whose 2046 was at the festival a few years ago) are all in agreement that the film is a big stinker. Comments from tuxedo wearing gala guests on the streets of the Croisette included “very boring” “too long” and “the best sleep i’ve had in years.” Apparently Norah Jones looked uneasy and unnatural in front of the camera. but some credited Jude Law for a good performance and for good chemistry with Jones. Natalie Portman didn’ get naked and thus I am sure a world of people were further upset.
In other news. Went to the Variety party at Elizabeth Taylor’s mansion in the hills. Apparently Jessica Simpson was there, but didn’t see her but was so informed by some Endeavor Independent agents who were running game pretty hard there. Did run into some friends from University. Pleasant surprise. The place to be for the after-party till 5AM was VIP’s in Palm Beach (near Cannes). A car load of strippers from Marseilles arrived at 3AM and were found celebratng in a corner not too far off from Bruce Willis’ former partner Arnold Rifkin and his new partner, producer Christopher Eberts.
Tonight the place to be is the Camara C Yacht in the Marina near the Grand Palais and if VIP’s last night was any indication (over how that club is superior to the Carlton Hotel’s Nikki Beach) it will be going off til 6AM (regards to Joelle the manager)
More from Cannes later.
PEACE
