Cinema Blend reports that the long er, awaited sequel to FORREST GUMP may bumble its way into theaters some time in the not-too-distant future. An “absolutely reliable, unfortunately anonymous” source revealed that GUMP producers Steve Tisch and Wendy Finerman have blown the dust off Eric Roth’s 2001 GUMP II: THE RECKONING script after 6 years of legal wrangling with Gump creator Winston Groom. All parties have apparently ironed out their differences and are ready to take another stab at bringing the affable feeb back to life. Flick will follow Gump through the 80’s and 90’s as he smears his cake-frosting-soiled tard-fingers all over recent history. No word yet whether Tom Hanks will be taking the short-bus for another spin, nor whether I’ll ever be able to look at box of chocolates without dry-heaving again.
